Such is the predicament Berry currently faces, as she is suing ex-boyfriend Mark Dawson for publishing several nude photographs of her on his MySpace page, including one taken without her knowledge of her “engaged in a particularly private, intimate sexual act.”

(CNN) — A 23-year-old beauty queen and seven men arrested in vehicles loaded with weapons and cash near the central Mexico city of Guadalajara have been transferred to Mexico City, the state news agency said Wednesday.

Laura Zuniga and the men were traveling Monday night in two vehicles that contained AR-15 assault rifles, 38-caliber specials, 9 mm handguns, cartridges and $50,000 in cash, said Luis Carlos Najera Gutierrez de Velazco, secretary of public security for the state of Jalisco.

Police, who had received a tip that armed men were in a home, detected the vehicles in the city of Zapopan as authorities were en route to investigate the call, Najera said Tuesday.

Inside one of the vehicles, authorities found Angel Orlando Garcia Urquiza, 29, who is Zuniga’s boyfriend and the brother of “one of the greatest capos [bosses] of narcotraffic,” Ricardo Garcia Urquiza, a member of the Juarez cartel already in police custody, Najera said.

Probably not a good idea to be caught running around with high-level drug cartel types, especially if you’re a celebrity.  I think it’s safe to say that Miss Zuniga will not be representing Mexico at Miss International 2009.  Perhaps Miss Minimum Security D Block 2009.  I hear the competition is tough.

Playboy Enterprises Inc., based in Chicago, released a statement Friday explaining that the company did not approve the cover because the Mexican version of the magazine is published by a licensee, according to Reuters.

“While Playboy Mexico never meant for the cover or images to offend anyone, we recognize that it has created offense, and we as well as Playboy Mexico offer our sincerest apologies,” the company said.

Mexican Playboy Magazine Apologizes for Nude Virgin Mary Cover

Playboy magazine apologized for a controversial cover featuring a scantily-clad woman resembling the Virgin Mary, Reuters reported.

The December edition was published Thursday, just before the Mexican festival honoring Mary known as the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

Playboy Enterprises Inc., based in Chicago, released a statement Friday explaining that the company did not approve the cover because the Mexican version of the magazine is published by a licensee, according to Reuters.

“While Playboy Mexico never meant for the cover or images to offend anyone, we recognize that it has created offense, and we as well as Playboy Mexico offer our sincerest apologies,” the company said.

The magazine features model Maria Florencia Onori wearing nothing but a white cloth over her head and chest.

The release was timed to coincide with the annual pilgrimage to Mexico City celebrating an apparition of the Virgin. The magazine’s headline reads in Spanish: “We love you, Mary.” About 100,000 copies were printed, Reuters said.

“The image is not and never was intended to portray the Virgin of Guadalupe or any other religious figure,” Raul Sayrols, publisher of Playboy Mexico, said in a prepared statement. “The intent was to reflect a Renaissance-like mood on the cover.”

The Argentinian model was among a group of protesters demanding that the Chilean government create a whale sanctuary in the country’s territorial waters. Stripped down to nothing more than a skimpy thong, she unsurprisingly drew the most attention from passers-by.

Under existing international law, Japan is prevented from killing whales for commercial activities, but is allowed to hunt a specified number each year for so called ’scientific purposes.’
Although unconventional, it’s likely that Carbone’s actions will help to significantly increase the spotlight on the activities of the Japanese whaling fleet – and on their opponents, who say the Japanese are seeking to re-commence commercial whaling activities by stealth.
